Using Youtube

Youtube is one of my favorite recourses as a homeschooler. With everything on the internet parental guidance is important.

Youtube has a lesson on just about anything you could want from kindergarden to college level.

Youtube is a public forum for people to submit videos of all kinds and when I say all kinds I mean ALL KINDS, hence the first rule of discretion. If you submit a video than that person has to have an account and a channel. The channel is a place where you can see all the persons videos and some information on that person. It is wise to check out the persons channel to make sure they are the kind of videos  you want.

Be warned like facebook right about the time you get used to the way it is laid out it will probably change.

This is a picture of my Mother's youtube channel. You can tell se doesn't have any videos but if she did you would be able to see everything that she has submitted there.

Youtube is great for visual learners. It is a free resource so it wont exclude anyone. As a parent if you are faced with a math lesson that you have no idea how to teach than you can find help from someone on youtube. If you are like me and you are a visual learner than you will love youtube.

After you get comfortable with youtube's layout maybe you can try to create video logs (vlogs)  to share on your own channel.

As in anything now a days you need to monitor what your children watch and you explore youtube as a family than youtube will be such a help to any homeschool family.

Next post I will share with you some of my favorite channels and how you could even create your entire curriculum using what is available on youtube.

Thank you for taking the time to read and please comment on any issues you would love to explore on the internet.
